Bringing the Theatre back into use

At Open House, you'll be able to hear the latest news on the AP regeneration project. The Theatre is a core part of what will be a multi-million pound bid for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The proposals are being carefully developed with expert advisors including Terry Farrell (architects and planners), and Bonnar Keenlyside (arts, heritage and theatre experts).

A good time to get involved!

It's always enjoyable to talking to visitors and Friends at Open House, and wonderful to hear everyone's ideas and enthusiasm! We now need to use these! As you read this, Alexandra Palace (and the Friends) are moving to a period of great activity and progress, with more recognition and professional expertise being applied to the Theatre than ever before. If the HLF bid is successful, the Theatre will be transformed into a multi-functional and usable space, yet one that retains its historic character. The Friends themselves need to be transformed too! We are working on archives (something the HLF want to see), but we want to do much more. There are many models for Friends organisations elsewhere, and a lot of flexibility in how people may contribute - from helping with an event to taking on a particular project or role. If you would like to find out more, we would be very pleased to meet you at Open House, or to hear from you.

Membership

If you are one of our approaching 200 paid-up members, Open House will be a good time to catch up with what's been happening, and to renew your membership.

If you are not yet a member, we'd love you to join us! Membership of the Friends is currently a nominal 2, and will mean you're kept more closely 'in the loop' than the general public.

You can renew or join on the day, or online here or use link http://fapt.org.uk/w/index.php/membership
